Essay

The thesis is the first in the Ukrainian ethnology comprehensive historical and ethnographic study of traditional crafts and trades of Sumy region: the part of the country that combines manufacturing traditions of the three Left-Bank Ukraine neighboring historical and ethnographic areas. On the basis of generalizing the interdisciplinary studies results, the empirical data gathered by the author during the fieldwork activity (2007-2014), and including the factors of cultural and historical development of the nation, the evolution of crafts and trades of the end of the 19th - the beginning of the 21st centuries has been traced.
