Essay

The dissertation provides a comprehensive historical and scientific study of the process of formation and development of the Odessa school of scientific photography. For the first time in Ukrainian history of science and technology through the wide range of sources the history of formation and development of scientific photography was recreated at Odessa University. Examined the history of the formation of the photography in a global context; identified prerequisites of the emergence of Odessa school of scientific photography; analysed oscientific, educational and organizational activities of Professor E.A. Kirillov (1883 - 1964), given his characteristic as a scientific leader; identified the informal research team, led by E.A. Kirillov, with a scientific school, revealed its membership; developed a periodization of scientific school and studied the main periods of its development.
