Glushko T. Teaching of Non-linguistic Students to read English Periodicals

Object - the process of teaching non-linguistic students to read English periodicals. Purpose - to develop and investigate the methods of teaching non-linguistic students to read English periodicals. Methods - theoretical, empirical and statistical. Theoretical results and novelty - for the first time the methods of teaching non-linguistic students to read English periodicals were scientifically substantiated and worked out. A retrospective analysis of reading teaching methods of English periodicals in pedagogical theory and practice has been performed. Psychological essence of perceptive and gist published information processing has been determined. Linguistic peculiarities of modern English language newspaper texts have been detected. Linguistic and didactic model of teaching reading process of English language authentic newspaper texts has been developed and corresponding methodology has been worked out. Experimental teaching according to the created methodology has been performed and its results have been calculated by specially established criteria. Practical results - a system of exercises and a special course in teaching nonhumanities students "Learn to read English newspapers" and dictionary "English newspaper Dictionary" have been developed. Efficiency of introduction is high. Branch - pedagogical, higher educational establishments.
