This dissertation conducted a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical and applied aspects of the category of competitive selection in the public service". In the work are determined by the theoretical bases of formation of the competitive selection of civil servants in Ukraine in modern segalntersettle science, identified and analyzed categorical level of the Institute for competitive selection of civil servants of Ukraine, determined the evolution of legal regulation of the competitive selection in the system of state service of Ukraine and foreign countries, reforms in the Soviet period and today. The legal nature of competitive selection in the public service at the present stage requires clarification of its concepts and fundamental characteristics. Theoretical and legal analysis of the stages and procedures of the competitive selection in the system of state service of Ukraine. Describes methods and procedures for evaluating candidates for admission to the civil service through the competition. Main directions of improvement of the procedure of competitive selection in the system of state service of Ukraine.
