Slabouz V. Proper Name as an Object of Onymography in the Theoretical and Practical Aspects

The thesis is devoted to the establishment of the theoretical foundations of linguoculturalogical onymography and to the consideration of the basic principles in practical lexicography. The retrospective analysis of the achievements as to the problem of lexicographic treatment of the onym material in various dictionaries is introduced. There is a set of the obligatory factors that must be taken into consideration while describing the onym units in the dictionary of linguoculturalogical orientation. The concise outline of the investigation development of the problem and the outlook at the connotative onymy and the phenomenon of onymogenesis are presented. On the basis of the analysis of results of theoretical and practical implementations of various lexicographical works and onomastic researches there has been made an attempt to formulate some guidelines of linguoculturalogical onymography. The selection rules of the “background” intercultural onymy for the linguoculturalogically oriented dictionaries of onyms of a comparative type are formulated, and the samples of dictionary articles are presented as well.
