The thesis investigates the question of the development of the content of teaching history of Ukraine in national schools in 60s 90s of the 20th century. Theoretic-methodological fundamentals of the study of the development of the content of teaching Ukrainian history in certain chronological limits are found; methodical views and approaches to the selection of the content and the amount of teaching material on Ukrainian history in secondary school in 60's-90's of the 20th century are systematized; premises, main periods and factors of the development of the studied phenomenon are defined; the practical implementing of the content of teaching Ukrainian history in Ukrainian schools is studied. On the basis of the holistic study three successive periods of the development of the content of teaching Ukrainian history in secondary schools in the second half of the 20th century were first identified in the thesis: 1959 1965; 1965 1989; 1989 1996; socio-cultural and general pedagogic premises for the development of the studied phenomenon are found, the specificity of teaching Ukrainian history in a general course of national history in different years and the activity features of individual teachers and schools in the implementation of the teaching content are defined.
