The paper analyzes the problem of national identity formation of students in higher education and theoretical approaches to its study, the concept of national identity specified future designers as significant personal and professional formation, the structure of national identity, which consists of a unity of three components and found a set of organizational and pedagogical conditions that influence the success of the formation of national identity developed and empirically researched model of national identity in design students during training. The organization of teaching influence, specifically aimed at identifying processes that promote meaningful increase the level of national identity in design students.
