The thesis presents a theoretical synthesis and a new solution to the problem of the future Geography teacher's preparation for the ecological education of students. The analysis of the future Geography teacher's preparation for ecological education of students at the higher educational establishments has been executed. The pedagogical conditions of preparing the future Geography teacher for the ecological education of the students has been theoretically justified and practically approved. The model of preparing the future Geography teacher for the ecological education of the students has been developed and the results of the experimental work have been presented. The essence of the key notions of the research ("ecological education of students", "the future Geography teacher's preparation for the ecological education of students" and "the future Geography teacher's readiness to ecological education of the students") has been specified as well as the structural components of the future Geography teacher's preparation for the ecological education of students and their criteria: motives and values, information and cognition, activity and behavior. Forms, methods and the means of educational process concerning the future Geography teacher's preparation for the ecological education of students have been improved.
