The dissertation focuses on the development of the modern university education in the Netherlands in the context of European integration processes. The paper highlights and characterizes the main stages of the university education historical development in the Netherlands. The following Dutch university education trends were defined: the organization of professional training in accordance with the requirements of European higher educational area and European research area; the integration of educational and research activities in university professional training; the provision of professional and academic mobility of students, professors and scientists; the state financial support of university professional training. The theoretical analysis indicated that a "university education" in the European context is regarded as a higher education that is acquired at universities to obtain academic degrees and qualifications according to the three-level training programs (Bachelor, Master, Doctor). European university education is characterized with multidisciplinarity, academic freedom, the right to self-government and autonomy, integral character of training and research activities and integration into European higher educational area. The basis for European university education is the principles of humanization, democratization, integration of education and research activities and continuity of education. The Dutch university education features are defined including: preserving the uniqueness of the universities in the Netherlands higher education, the unity of educational and research activities in the universities, the high degree of involvement in European integration process. The integration of educational and research activities in the university professional training is manifested through the employment of research results in the educational process; orientation of teaching at the latest scientific achievements; active student involvement in the research activities at all educational stages. These aspects contribute to the uniqueness of the Netherlands university education system. Also, the Netherlands universities conduct fundamental research funded by state and realize the researchers' training. The key components of the university international activity are highlighted: the organizational support for academic mobility, joint training programs, exchange education programs. The Netherlands university education priority directions are outlined: the democratization of the university management, the improvement of higher education quality, the increasing role of the public organizations ensuring effective cooperation of universities and the authorities. The research substantiates the possibility to use the efficient experience of the Netherlands university education reforms in the modernization of Ukrainian higher education. Among the main ways to use this experience are the development of the internal and external system designed for the control of education quality, the optimization of the higher education institutions network, providing conditions for the academic mobility of students, research and teaching staff, the integration of educational and research activities in the universities at all stages of professional training, the division of Master programs into the academic, research and teaching, the effective system of the higher education public funding based on the teaching outcomes assessment and student financial support system. The main activities of the modern Dutch University are educational and research activities. The integration of the educational and scientific components is an important step towards providing quality professional training in the Netherlands universities. Involving students in research occurs at all stages of the university education (Bachelor, Master and Doctorate). The research component plays a key role at the stage of doctoral and master's degrees. The results of the research enable to come to a conclusion that the process of reforms in the Netherlands university education has a logical, well-founded and consistent character. Its main achievement is successful integration of higher education into the united European educational and scientific area.
