Maznichenko O. Formation of Natalia Chmutina's School in the Context of Architectural Culture of Ukraine in the Soviet Era

The thesis researches architectural and cultural environment of Ukraine in the Soviet era on the example of architectural form generating, scientific and educational work of N. B. Chmutina's (1912-2005) school. The study resulted in defining special features of mutual influence of historical and cultural background of the time and of architectural art; in solving string of important problems of culture and art studies. Chmutina's name is validated as a symbolic one for the contemporary cultural background, as well as for artistic and architectural environment. Trends and principles of architectural culture formation and constantly changing conditions of architects' work have been examined and generalized by example of Chmutina's buildings. Unique features of Chmutina's artistic and scientific works have been summarized. It was established, that one of the main architect's goals was practical realization of her scientific works results, which is illustrated by numerous experimental buildings she designed or contributed to. Features of Chmutina's personal school as a teacher and characteristic principles of the school have been researched.
