The hypothesis of the research is that the Greek and Latin loan words together with originally native Ukrainian words are able to bear in diachrony the profound ethnically specific meanings, based on lexical paradigm and syntagma. The basic problem of the research is to describe the lexical valence of the Greek and Latin loan words and their place in the world image. The nuclear, near-nuclear and peripheral the Greek and Latin loan words are marked out, based upon their lexical valence, extralinguistic word associations and their importance for the Ukrainian world image.
