Essay

The thesis is dedicated to investigation of language representation of basic concepts of the text of Plato's "Apology of Socrates" which constitute the conceptual space of it. It is for the first time in classical studies that the text of Plato's "Apology" is examined through theoretical and methodological principles of anthropological paradigm in modern linguistics. It has been discovered that KNOWLEDGE is the key concept of the text under investigation. It has been proved that among four basic views of Socrates' conception of knowledge (the Received View, Irwin View, Nehamas View, New View) the so called New View is the most plausible and finds the most conclusive language and textual corroboration in the "Apology". The concept KNOWLEDGE is considered as a heterogenic entity which has field structure with core and periphery distinguished in it. The core component is represented as a constellation of microfields that are distinguished by various types of knowledge determined in the text, such as "Expert knowledge", "Lesser knowledge", "Opinion", which comprises three spheres - "Belief", "Assumption" and "Assumptive evaluation", "True knowledge", "False knowledge" and "Knowledge with sensual semantic shade". As representation of special type of knowledge - philosophical one - the concept FILOSOFOS has been distinguished as well. The latter comprises subconcepts, such as SOFIA( AMAQIA and FRONHSIS.
