Essay

Retrospective analysis of development of system of improvement of professional skill of pedagogical staff of England showed that at the end of XX - beginning of XXI century the whole system of teacher education has acquired the features of structure, of the centrality and hierarchy. The stages of the system of continuous pedagogical education in England are: Basic (Initial Teacher Education), Intermediate - inductive (Induction) and Development (IN-Service Education and Training). National occupational standards in England (National Occupational Standards) are the parameters of the system of quality assurance of education. The concept of "continuous professional growth of teachers" (teacher's continuing professional development), formulated by the English researcher J. O'neill (J. O'neill), characterizes this rather long process as "personally oriented to the achievement of high standards of professional skill". English researchers of teacher education specify different approaches to defining organizational and pedagogical foundations for the development of professional skills in the system of professional development as a socio-pedagogical phenomenon.
