Object - adaptation of children academically capable of education in elementary school; objective - to determine the psychological characteristics of children academically capable of education in elementary school in the meritocratic education system in terms of the academic project "Intelligence of Ukraine"; methods - theoretical analysis, generalization, comparison, systematization of the research problem psychological data, summative and formative assessment, mathematical statistics methods; novelty - it has been defined for the 1st time that the factors promoting a normal course of the adaptive process children academically capable of education in elementary school in the meritocratic education conditions are: high motivation for training; high self-esteem level and positive status position in a group; newly defined distinctions in complexity and leading components of the training psychological readiness structure at school of children with its different level; detalization of idea of peculiarities of the parental behavior destructive and constructive strategies impact on anxiety level of the academically capable primary schoolers and behavior social adequacy; expansion of ideas of creativity, working capacity and adaptation peculiarities of educational activity of the academically capable children; further development of the psychological follow-up measures of the academically capable children in the meritocratic education conditions by implementing of the program considering the education adaptation psychological factors in elementary school; results - developed diagnostic complex for assessment of the psychological readiness to education in elementary school and procedures of selection of children academically capable of education according to the academic project "Intelligence of Ukraine", the developed and tested program of the psychological follow-up of the adaptive process of children academically capable of education in elementary school may be used in the practical psychologists' activity of educational establishments and by elementary school teachers as well as in the course of the professional training and professional development of psychologists; field - Psychology.
