The thesis deals with the problem of autumn-winter calendar customs and rites of boikos in the second half of the XIX - the beginning of the XXI century. The national tradition of countdown of autumn season in festive and ritual calendar of Ukrainians of "Boikivschyna" is determined. Functions and motives of autumn calendar customs and rites of ethnographical group are studied. Semantics and basic high-content forms of the December winter ceremonialism of boikos are investigated. World-creative content of ritualism of Holy Night, Christmas and Orthodox New Year (old style) is characterised.
