The goal of the study is to substantiate the ways of using progressive American experience for modernizing medical education in Ukraine. Achieving this goal requires the following tasks: to analyze the research on this problem in domestic and foreign educational theory; to summarize the basic concepts of the study that reveal the essentiality of professionalism of family physicians in the United States; to describe the system of professional training and postgraduate education in the US universities: to define peculiarities of the content, forms and methods of professional training of family physicians in the United States.
