Volik K. Dukach is a traditional folk decoration in the space of Ukrainian culture.

The thesis is devoted to dukach functioning in the space of Ukrainian culture in all possible forms. The task is solved owing to a comprehensive consideration of the following issues: the history of dukach origins and genesis within Ukrainian existence of jewelry; a dukach role and place of women in traditional formation; classification and typology of dukaches (separately presented and described Slobozhansky type of dukach); a dukach reflection in Ukrainian art and photography art (XVIII - XX centuries); animage of dukach in the modern domestic jewelry.A special aspect of the research was a problem of dukach museumfication. To decide this problem were attracted special methods of investigation, including the restoration. They allowed to isolate the factors by which dukach may establish an authenticity and prevent the emergence of falsifications in museum collections. The practical significance of the work is strengthened of recommendations as to storage conditions of dukaches, made of different materials.
