The thesis is a comprehensive scientific historical research in which, based on the analysis of a complex of representative sources, mainly of primary origin, and application of modern methodological principles, they summarized the formation and development of one-seed sugar beet selection in Ukraine, being a separate area in sugar beet growing. The thesis offers the author's division into periods, which refers to the formation and development of selection research of one-seed sugar beet on the territory of Ukraine. They defined theoretical and practical contributions of Ukrainian scientists (O. K. Kolomiyets, M. H. Bordonos, V. P. Zosymovych, H. S. Mokan, O. V. Popov) to the formation of methodological fundamentals for one-seed sugar beet selection and the creation of first one-sprout variety in the world.
