In the dissertation the results of theoretical and experimental investigation of the formation of diagnostic abilities of future social pedagogues in the process of professional training at pedagogical colleges are submitted. It characterizes the basic concepts of the research, analyses the problem of future social pedagogue professional training in pedagogical theory, specifies the peculiarities of future social pedagogue professional training at pedagogical colleges, analyses the present situation with the formation of diagnostic skills of future social pedagogue. It grounds the structure of a social pedagogue diagnostic skills that includes two groups of skills: processive and technological (analytic and synthetic, methodological, analytic and corrective, informational), personal and reflexive (creative, reflexive, evaluative) skills. It states and reveals the content of the criteria (analytic and synthetic, methodological, analytic and corrective, informational, creative, reflexive, resultative and evaluational), indicators and levels (optimal, acceptable, critical) of future social pedagogue diagnostic skills formation. It provides and theoretically grounds the pedagogical technology of the formation of future social pedagogue diagnostic skills in the process of professional training at pedagogical colleges. It points out the content, forms and methods of future social pedagogue diagnostic skills formation. It improves the content of the pedagogical practice tasks and experimentally checks their effectiveness for the formation of future social pedagogue diagnostic skills in the process of professional training
