Essay

The thesis deals with the developing professional competence in interactional speech of the students doing master’s degree in philology. The methodology of the professional competence development using case study has been theoretically substantiated and practically elaborated. The usage of case study method for developing professional competence of future university teachers has been analyzed. The classification system of professional cases has been elaborated. The emphasis on the student and the focus on the process of learning has been accomplished within the learner-centered approach. The elements of the professional competence in interactional speech have been examined, as has the list of professional skills that a future teacher is supposed to develop. The study of scientific issues in the area of foreign language teachers’ professional development has enabled the system of professionally oriented exercises to be worked out. The model of professionally oriented future teachers’ training based on the system of exercises has been presented. The effectiveness of the suggested methodology has been verified and confirmed in the course of experimental teaching. Methodological recommendations for developing professional competence in interactional speech of the future English language university teachers using case study method have been given.
