Essay

Object of research: proactive coping.Subject of research: features of proactive coping with stress situations during university studying.Research methods. Theoretical: analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification and systematization of modern scientific studies used for synthesis of theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of proactive coping with stress situations and determination of conceptual principles of research s proactive coping premises, including personal coping resources and its role in mainaining quality of life. Empirical: interviews, questionnaires, tests. In order to collect biographical data about respondents the specially designed questionnaire was used. For diagnostics of coping and its forms the Proactive Coping Inventory PCI was used (E. Greenglass, R. Schwarzer, S. Taubert, adaptation carried out by the author). To study the structure of the individual classifier used temperaments D. Keirsey (translation by P.A. Kozlyakovskyi). To study specific personal resources the Proactive Attitude Scale PAS (R. Schwarzer, adaptation carried out by the author), the General Self-Efficacy Scale GSES (R. Schwarzer and M. Jerusalem, adaptation by I.I. Haletska), the Authenticity Scale AS (A. Wood, P. A. Linley, J. Maltby, M. Baliousis, S. Joseph adaptation carried out by the author), the Sense of Coherence Scale SOC (A. Antonovsky, adaptation by I.I. Haletska), the Self-Control Scale SCS (M. Rosenbaum, adaptation carried out by the author). Characteristics of stressful events and reactions to them were diagnosed by the Student Life-Stress Inventory SSI (B.M. Gadzella, H.L. Fullwood, D.W. Ginther, adaptation carried out by the author). Features of the students activity were evaluated by collecting data about the academic success. Mathematical: calculation of descriptive statistics, correlation analysis (coefficients Pearson's r and Kendall's ?b), regression analysis (simple linear and multiple linear), factor analysis (exploratory and confirmatory), structural equation modeling, simulation based on neural networks. As the psychometric characteristics of the scales and questionnaires the calculation of internal consistency by criterion ? McDonald's, retest reliability and other psychometric indices were carried out. Mathematical analysis of empirical data was performed using statistical software packages IBM SPSS Amos 22.0.0, IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0.0 and R 3.1.2.The scientific novelty and theoretical significance of the study. For the first time: the essential features of proactive coping that distinguishes it from other types of coping were found, and the basic system settings for proactive personality were formulated; the relative independence of proactive coping from dispositional and environmental factors was proved and the decisive role of parameters of the proper subject's activity in proactive coping was highlighted; the motivational-need structure of personality was matched with coping constructs and the level of needs, which corresponds to proactive coping, was determined; the range of resource factors of proactive coping was specified and the role of personal authenticity components as internal coping resources was identified; the basis of differentiation of coping constructs between personal coping resources and coping strategies were reviewed and new, more appropriate criteria (temporal characteristics of stressors occurrence and degree of its certainty) were proposed; the concept of "coping vector" was introduced and the proactive coping vector was characterized; the exceptional importance of proactive coping in maintaining physical and mental health of the individual, promoting a healthy lifestyle and way of thinking was established. The practical significance. Valid and reliable methods for the Ukrainian version of the study constructs such as Proactive Coping Inventory (PCI), Proactive Attitude Scale (PAS), the Authenticity Scale (AS), Self-Control Scale (SCS), a Student Life-Stress Inventory (SSI) are created. This will expand the methodological arsenal of Ukrainian psychologists and allow wide use of these techniques in psychological practice. Theoretical and empirical results of the study are included in the lectures and practical training courses "Clinical Psychology", "Psychological diagnostics", "Psychology of coping" and so on.Scope institutions of higher education, psychological services.
