Essay

Object: religious monuments of VIII-XII centuries, covered in ethnographic, archaeological and written sources. Objective: a comprehensive scientific analysis of religious monuments in last quarter of the first millennium and the first quarter of the second millennium (VIII-XII centuries) Ukrainian Pre-Carpathian region, highlighting of their place in the spiritual culture of the then population and the role in the state building processes. Methods: inductive, deductive, structural and systematic, retrospective, ethnic-archeological. Results: for the first time in the scientific circulation introduced a significant number of new ethnographic and archaeological sources obtained during field studies, asked about the direct influence of pagan worship centers on the Slavic city formation processes in the region, argued the statement about the crucial role of spiritual power in the processes of "internal" state formation in the Pre-Carpathian region last quarter of the first millennium, comprehensively analyzed the ritual burial of old Slavic population of the region. Scope: for the preparation of synthesis papers, textbooks and manuals on ethnology, history and archeology, general and special lecture courses.
