The thesis focuses on researching the methodology of teaching Engineering Students (speciality "The Seaway navigation") of profession-oriented texts on the basis of integration. The research provides the analysis of theoretical prerequisites of teaching reading comprehension. The structure, components of teaching navigators English reading on the basis of integration have been analyzed. The main difficulties which cadets may come across while reading English profession-oriented literature have been specified. Necessary for successful reading comprehension knowledge and skills have been determined. The criteria for selecting professional-oriented texts have been outlined. The system of exercises and tasks of teaching future navigators English reading has been substantiated and elaborated. Four stages of teaching navigators reading comprehension of profession-oriented texts in English have been introduced. The effectiveness of the methodology has been verified and proved experimentally. The results of the experiment have revealed the advantage of sequential reading comprehension teaching of profession-oriented texts in English to future navigators. Methodological guidelines to teachers for organizing teaching future navigators English reading on the basis of integration have been developed.
