Essay

Based on the complex of sources and scientific works the thesis provides a comprehensive investigation of development of wood handicrafts on the East Podillia at the end of XIXth - beginning of XXth century. The main attention is paid to some regional features of wood handicrafts such as products, technical aspects of production, tools and its place in traditional and everyday culture system. The changes of role of wood products in human life during the end of XIXth - beginning of XXth century have been investigated. It is found out that such products had a wide functionality. They created living environment of the farmer, helped in the preparation, storage and food consumption. Moreover, wood products were used for transportation of goods, as tools in agriculture, and in many rituals or folk customs.
