Essay

The object of the study – the sociocultural communication as a form of intercultural interaction; the subject of the study – speech practices as a factor of intercultural communication in the modern sociocultural environment; the purpose – identifying the influence of speech practices on the development of sociocultural communication in intercultural interaction; the methods and approaches – a complex methodological approach that involves application of the following methods: the analytical method (to identify the theoretical and methodological foundations and the conceptual apparatus of the study); the cultural and historic method (to unfold the main strategies for understanding sociocultural communication from antiquity to modern times); the sociocultural method (to analyze the educational and intercultural contexts of speech practices); the structural-typological analysis (to develop and define models of speech practices); the ethnic sociolinguistic and hermeneutic analysis (to indentify the place and role of speech practices in national linguistic pictures of the world as well as possibilities for intercultural dialogue); the material collected by the author over the years of working at the Department of Language Training of the V.N. Karazin Kharkov National University’s Centre of International Students Training was used to unfold the main theoretical assumptions of the study; the novelty – providing philosophical and anthropological rationale for general models of sociocultural communication in the context of speech practices used in intercultural interaction; the results – can be applied in further philosophical and anthropological studies, used as a material for lecture and seminar courses in the humanities disciplines as well as to develop special courses on anthropological, cultural and linguistic issues; the branch of science – philosophical anthropology, philosophy of culture.
