Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of scientific activity of the known scientist in the branch of reproduction biotechnology of farm animals, professor I. V. Smirnov. Periods of his scientific, pedagogical and organizational activity was divided. The characteristics of his contribution in organization of higher education and formation of Kyiv Research and Educational Center of Farm Animal Reproduction Biotechnology was made. I. V. Smirnov part in the organization of experimental work in animal husbandry and breeding work in the USSR was highlighted. Analysis and systematization of his scientific heritage, values of some scientific researches for the development of animal husbandry were made.
