Essay

The thesis deals with the analysis of the scientific, engineering, organizational and public activity of the outstanding national railway engineer, the scientist in the area of railway transport, electrical engineering and hydro energy H. O. Hraftio, his historical significance and merits in the development of hydropower and hydraulic engineering science in the first half of the XX-th century. Having systematized a diverse source material, the author depicts the picture of hydraulic engineering and hydro energy development in the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union as well as in Ukraine, comparing the process with the foreign one. It has been proved that scientific and pedagogical achievements of the scientist had become the basis for new ideas and plans development concerning further technical studies.
