In this paper, the research problem of formation of ecological competence specified basic concept study singled leading approaches to research. Proved that the effective formation of ecological competence of mining engineers in the process of training possible on the basis of personality-oriented education, design and implementation of individual strategies for solving environmental problems. Тhe essence of ecological competence of the future mining engineer, as a person's ability to perceive the surrounding reality in the unity of the natural and socio-cultural relations, based on ecological orientation of knowledge, skills, experience and personal qualities that make efficient use of their potential and to successfully perform various professional activities. In studies are presented structural and functional model of ecological competence of mining engineers in the process of training. Proved that the practical implementation of the educational process of high school model of environmental expertise and implementation of educational technology contributed to increasing the level of formation of ecological competence of mining engineers.
