In this dissertation the author proves that the appropriateness of the implementation of special bus lanes on the spacing of the streets should be determined by three criteria, and the principal one lies in the fact that it is necessary to use minimum volume of traffic flow, for the determination of which a formula is proposed that provides the opportunity to take into account traffic conditions on the spacing of the streets. The method of "special bus lanes within the area of intersection" was introduced in the dissertation, which enables space-time priority for buses at signalized intersection (mostly isolated), especially if the approaches of which have no more than two traffic lanes in one direction. Also the boundaries of its effective use are determined. The author suggests six basic types of such special lanes. In this dissertation the author develops simulation models to determine the maximum length of the queue of cars on the way to an isolated and signalized intersection, according to the results of which optimal length of the special bus lane on the appropriate approach is determined.
