The thesis is devoted to the development of social competence in the classroom teachers of secondary schools in the process of professional activities. This work defines the essential characteristics of basic concepts of the research: "the social", "competence", "social competence of the class teacher", "the development of social competence in the classroom teacher". Contemporary state of the problems of the development of social competence in the classroom teachers is analysed; its structural components, criteria, indicators and levels of the development are identified. The model of the development of social competence in the classroom teachers of secondary school is developed, theoretically grounded and experimentally tested. The main results of the research are implemented in educational process of secondary schools. It is proved that its implementation makes a contribution to the improvement of the level of development of social competence in the classroom teachers of secondary schools.
