The thesis is devoted to research of problems of formation of general cultural competence of students of vocational schools. Found out major theoretical approaches to this problem. Grounded categorial-conceptual apparatus of research problems, namely the category of "culture", "general culture", "general cultural competence", "competence", "competency", "building". The features of educational work at vocational schools. The role and function of social and human sciences in the formation of general cultural competence. The characteristic features of objects of social and humanitarian subjects, which include: information, general cultural, developmental, cognitive, educational. Determined general cultural potential of each subject, which is a social and humanities. Analysis of curricula and textbooks, some topics whose content provides the formation of general cultural competence of students of vocational schools in the process of studying the social and humanities. According to the structure of the general cultural competence established basic criterias of general cultural competence of at vocational schools formation: value-motivational, cognitive, practical-active, result-evaluation. Scientifically substantiated and experimentally tested model and technology of the general cultural competence of students of vocational schools in the process of learning social and humanities. Noted effective methods (lectures, seminars, workshops), methods (narration, conversation, teaching, role-playing games, a problematic presentation of the material etc.) To ensure the efficiency of formation of general cultural competence in vocational-technical schools in the study subjects social and humanities. Prepared guidelines for the formation of general cultural competence at vocational-technical schools. Introduced a special course "Professional ethics and culture of communication" aimed at developing vocational-technical schools sustained internal communication, professional and social motivation to master the general cultural competence, which involves deepening and generalization of knowledge of students about communication, norms of behavior, cultural and historical heritage Ukrainian people and other nations, the development of communicative skills of vocational-technical schools.
