Object - metaabilities and metaqualities of the identity of the student; the purpose - theoretically to prove and empirically to investigate psychological regularities and mechanisms of purposeful development of metaabilities and metaqualities of the identity of the student which are actual for intensive transformations which occur in modern society; methods - theoretical (the analysis, judgment, systematization and generalization), empirical (supervision, the stating, forming and diagnostic experiments, conversation, poll, questioning, testing, scaling, the content analysis), mathematical and statistical methods of data processing; novelty - relations of metaabilities and metaqualities of the identity of the student and their dynamic throughout training are for the first time revealed; ideas of a conceptual framework which describes metaabilities and metaqualities in an existential and educational context are expanded; ideas of a complex professionally, socially and existentially significant metaabilities and metaqualities of the personality in the conditions of transformations of society are expanded which includes: metaabilities to effective communication, solution of problems, to self-development and metaqualities of an internality, ingenuity, quick-wittedness, objectivity, responsibility, keenness, independence; ideas of compliance of functions of consciousness (cognitive, communicative and regulatory) and metaabilities (to self-development, effective communication and the solution of problems) are expanded; the technology which provides effective purposeful development of metaabilities and metaqualities of the personality in the conditions of training in higher education institution in the context of cognitive and semantic orientations of the student is improved; means of psychodiagnostics of metacharacteristics of personal development are improved by creation of a technique of construction of a profile of the personality on the basis of data of a questionnaire on detection of metaabilities and metaqualities of the student; researches of psychological mechanisms which cause efficiency of purposeful development of metaabilities and metaqualities of the identity of the student in the context of his semantic and cognitive orientations are gained further development; the result is creation of the author's computer program of construction of profiles of development of the personality and author's questionnaire for detection of metacharacteristics of personal development which can be used by employees of psychological service of higher education institution; provisions and results of research can be used in the course of vocational training of students of pedagogical and psychological specialties, students of professional development; area - psychology.
