Essay

This thesis is devoted to the development of theoretical and methodological foundations of effective modernization of library and information youth services related to the further development of information-technology and network culture. Research gathered about information-technology and network culture in terms of its impact on the development of library and information-technology services for youth. The necessary requirements of library functionality for youth have been specified, and take into account the need for change management, due to the increasing virtualization of society. A completed analytical overview of the main trends in library and information-technology services to adolescents and youth in foreign libraries. The evolution of processes in an integrated services system of real and virtual users, spurred by the development of information-technology and network culture. An outline of the results from monitoring the effectiveness of new resources and services provided using information-technology and communication technologies to identify the constraints in integrating these technologies in the practice of providing library services and offering recommendations to address existing problems. Content analysis has been conducted of websites of leading libraries in Ukraine that serve youth. The methodology and means to modernize information-technology library services for youth and the development of trends in information-technology and the knowledge society in Ukraine; the growing needs of youth and their preferences in selecting tools for communication; the prospects in developing library activities; further development of digital technology, online communication services; global trends in new technologies in the practical provision of youth services.
