In the research the notion of "professional self-identity" is specified, theoretical approaches to the study of professional self-substructure of future primary school teachers are defined and also the theoretical model of psychological mechanisms of its development of future primary school teachers is worked out. The manuscript empirically defines components, criteria, indexes, the peculiarities of display, levels, dynamics and also psychological mechanisms - personal and professional of the professional self-identity development of future primary school teachers. The model was worked out; the effectiveness of the program of developing work in enhancing psychological mechanisms and the development of structural components of the professional self-identity development of future primary school teachers were tested and scientifically proved. Scientific and practical recommendations are suggested to teachers and students concerning the professional self-identity development of future teachers during their training at the higher educational establishments.
