Redko Y. Types and Ways of Nominating Persons in the Ukrainian Argot Systems.

Object - the Ukrainian argotic systems. Purpose - to determine the peculiarities of people naming, its structural and semantic identity in the Ukrainian argotic systems. Methods - descriptive, comparable, structural and semantic analysis, component, statistical. The thesis presents the study of naming persons in the Ukrainian argotic systems. It considers opposition argo-jargon-slang based on the foreign and native linguistic papers, outlines the place of argo in substandard Ukrainian language system, its status, main and additional functions. It finds out the semantic and structural originality of personal names in the Ukrainian historical sociolects. The thesis analyzes the main types and methods of semantic, phrasemes and word-building nomination of persons in national argo, reveals their features compared to the general language of nominative norm. Particular attention is paid to research models and means of naming persons in argo, ascertainment of their activity and representation in different sociolectical circumstances. The chain of argotic etymologies is offered and clarified. First an attempt to recognize the origin of the unique ("argotic") word-building formants, their functional, pragmatic and connotative meaning is carried out in the Ukrainian linguistics. The paper emphasizes on patterns and tendencies in personal naming in argo, linguistic and extra-linguistic factors in this process, enabling general conclusion about systemization of analyzed phenomenon.
