Chen J. Structural Changes in Foreign Trade of the People's Republic of China under Current Conditions

The dissertation analyzes theoretic and methodological approaches to the structural analysis and techniques of evaluation of parameters of structural changes in foreign trade. The author offers his own definition of structural changes in foreign trade. In the paper the classification of structural changes has been introduced, their functions have been outlined. The system of measures of structural changes, including linear and quadratic ratios, has been examined in detail. Within the framework of research the system-forming exogenous and endogenous factors, affecting deformations of foreign trade structure, have been addressed. The structure of Chinese foreign trade by countries and industry, and the role of structural changes in foreign trade of free economic zones (FEZ) have been explored. Their performance criteria and incentive system for foreign investment attraction, and the operations of foreign banks within FEZ jurisdiction have been considered. The author has analyzed the country-specific structure of exports and imports, changes in the industrial structure of foreign trade, the effects of China accession to the WTO. The structural parameterization of structural changes in foreign trade of the P.R. China in terms of industries and in total has been performed.
