Sinenko O. Justification of medical and organizational model of protection and support of breastfeeding at primary health care institutions in rural areas.

The dissertation is devoted to the scientific substantiation of medico-organizational model of protection and support of breastfeeding at primary health care institutions in rural areas which will promote to the optimization of infants feeding. Regional features of the current system of support and practices of breastfeeding including the specific of the demographic situation, conditions and lifestyle of the rural population and existing food traditions were researched. The basic medical, demographic and social factors influencing the breastfeeding were established during the study and the risk factors of its early termination were identified. Also the level of knowledge and skills of nursing staff in relation to modern principles of breastfeeding was studied. Medico-organizational model of protection and support of breastfeeding was substantiated on the base on the data which contains complex of organizational management elements and information technologies on strengthening the mother's motivation to breastfeeding of infants through active coordination of information and educational activities of doctor general practitioner - family doctor and nurses of general practice - family medicine. The effectiveness of the proposed model is confirmed by data on its implementation in public health practice by local experiment to primary care institutions of Poltava region, namely the increasing prevalence of breastfeeding, decline of general incidence and incidence of digestive system diseases of the infants.
