Analysis of declarative knowledge perception and digestion represented in the form of models of human cognitive structures (cognitive prototypes) was conducted. The concept of cognitive prototype as a data structure and an universal formalized structural unit of medical and biological declarative knowledge was proposed. A method for knowledge reference model building based on cognitive prototypes was developed and an instrumental system for university instructors as a tool for devising learning content was designed. A new educational technology basedon cognitive prototypes, the main part of which is student's independent work on automatically generated tasks, was developed. Such an approarch reassures unification, intensification of student independent work and encourages the development and establishing student's cognitive structures. Author distance learning system IESCP was developed and registered; the new educational technology was tested for efficiency.
