Chernenko N. Verbalization of the Concept VIRTUE in European languages (based on Latin, French, English and Ukrainian).

Thesis is focused on the specific character of the concept VIRTUE verbalization in Latin, French, English and Ukrainian. The main purpose of the present research is to display the semantic development of the VIRTUE concept which is considered to be morally, genderly and socially engaged notion on the basis of its frame modeling. We interpret concept as a mental-cognitive phenomenon which serves a kind of mirror for the cultural values. Therefore, studying of the concepts is closely connected with studying of the cultures. The specific character of VIRTUE concept determines the main principles of its research as a unique cultural and mental phenomenon. This concept appears to be a part of the conceptual field "The spiritual life of mankind". Within the language world model this conceptual field might be represented hierarchically in such a way: maсroconcept MORALITY ? hyperconcept VIRTUE ? hypoconcepts VIRTUS, VERTU, VIRTUE, ДОБРОЧЕСНІСТЬ/ЧЕСНОТА.
