Orel O. Psychological correction of cognitive impairments in patients with multiple sclerosis

The object of the study: correction of cognitive impairments in patients with multiple sclerosis. The purpose of the work: by identifying of neuropsychological features and cognitive deficits of patients with multiple sclerosis to adapt the methodology of rehabilitation of cognitive functions. Methods: theoretical – analysis of research sources, empirical – testing, forming experiment; mathematic-statistical. Scientific novelty: the thesis is dedicated to effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation in patients with multiple sclerosis; the theoretical analysis of the data about cognitive impairment in patients with multiple sclerosis and the rehabilitation tools has been made; due the conclusion of recommendations to the rehabilitation, the theoretical model of cognitive rehabilitation has been built; it was defined, that between different programs, ERICA is the most relevant to the theoretical basement; this program has been adapted for the Ukrainian sample in current thesis; it was proved, that the most of the patients has some level of cognitive impairment; the level of the cognitive impairment in patients with multiple sclerosis has been defined; the research on the effectiveness of ERICA compared with non specific methods of cognitive training has been made; it was defined that the effectiveness of ERICA is much superior. Practical importance: the strategy of cognitive functions of patients with multiple sclerosis rehabilitation has been developed, its effectiveness has been proved. The effect of the introduction is high. The areas of use: higher education institutions.
