The research examines the opera-choral performing school, which was formed at the National state academic theatre of Opera and ballet of Ukraine named after. T. G. Shevchenko from the perspective of intertextual analysis. Phenomenon of performing school is seen in a cultural perspective as "cultural text" which is in the process of development, enters into a dialogue with the cultural texts of our time. The periodization of activity of the choir of the theatre is offered. Specific examples traced the problems of interpretation of choral scenes and episodes in different genres of the opera from positions of "art opening”. The research identified some regularities in the work on the episodes of large-scale mass choral scenes in the historic-рatriotic Opera "Taras Bulba" by M. Lysenko and "Bogdan Khmelnitsky" by K. Dan'kevych. By analyzing staging of the operas "Queen of Spades" by P. Tchaikovsky and "Rigoletto" by J. Verdi the author proved that in the musical embodiment of chamber choral scenes in the National Opera theatre the principles of compositional arrangement of the choir in choir scenes were formed. Analysis of staging of an Opera of M. Skoryk "Moses" allowed to illuminate on specific examples the process of stage implementation of the choral scenes in terms of staging the innovative Opera genre – philosophical opera-parable.
