Essay

The dissertation is the first comprehensive analysis of the reception of the musical avant-garde in socio-cultural space of the twentieth century using basic principles of receptive aesthetics as a direction of interdisciplinary research in the Humanities. Based on the theory of receptive aesthetics and its basic concepts ("reception", "implicit reader", "horizon of expectations", etc.), the thesis reveals the distinctive features of evolution of listeners' perception in the historical process. The researcher examined the significance of the avant-garde worldview in the context of empirical possibility of the recipients' consideration of philosophical and ideological ideas of avant-garde artists. In turn, socio-cultural conditionality of being of the avant-garde art is the best representation of a holistic conceptual picture of this trend, which is reflected in the perception of a single work and of the phenomenon in General. Receptive models that were formed in separate chronologic periods of the 20th century are differentiated. The notions of receptive-provocative strategy, retrospective, axiological, contemplating receptive models and intellectual artistic perception are introduced. A new perspective on understanding of aesthetic features of the avant-garde culture and assessment criteria of avant-garde art are proposed.
