Chuyko T. The interpretation of Taras Shevchenko’s Image in Paintings and Drawings of the 20th century: the Culture Aspect

The dissertation analyzed the peculiarities interpretation of T. Shevchenko's image in oil paintings and drawings of the 20th century. It was determined that the most popular genre in paintings, which were dedicated to Shevchenko, were a portrait and a petit genre dedicated to the T. Shevchenko's biography and his works. It was noted that the artists adhered to physiognomic features of the artist in created his portrait, making two main "canonical" (iconic) types of I. Kramskoy and I. Repin. Free interpretation of image has allowed various modeling techniques, helped to show features of Shevchenko's multi-faceted personality. It is proved that the evolution of art works, which were dedicated to Shevchenko associated with holding art exhibitions to the anniversary dates of T. Shevchenko's birth and death. These works were first comprehensively explored in the context of types and genres specialty artistic style and iconography invariance of the image, as well as in the way of the culture creation.
