Object - a career strategy of a personality; methods - theoretical (analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization and generalization), empirical (questioning, testing, conversation), mathematical-statistical methods of data processing; novelty - motivational-valuable determinants of type of a career orientation at students of technical specialties are defined for the first time, namely: the orientation on horizontal type of career is characterized by aspiration to professional development, service to people, society, and the orientation on vertical type of career - aspiration to administrative activity, financial independence, popularity; the model of psychological structure of career strategy which contains motivational-valuable determinants, an emotional component and career competence is constructed and verified for the first time; the emotional component of career strategy of students is revealed for the first time through definition of the emotional relation to the concept "professional development" as indicator of harmony/discrepancy of an image of career and formation of the career purposes; representations are expanded: about the career strategy of the personality as integrative formation which includes the conscious career purposes, the principles and ways of their achievement and is based on values, motives, meanings; about features of self-updating of students of technical specialties with different type of career orientation, namely: the horizontal type is characterized by the high level of valuable orientations and informative needs, vertical - the high level of competence of time and support; means of psychological maintenance of understanding of a harmonious image of career at students of technical specialties are gained further development by means of an author's transformational game; results - the author's transformational game directed to awareness of balance of vital and professional values and the purposes of students of technical specialties when planning the professional future, forming a harmonious image of career is developed and approved; provisions of work and practical developments can be applied in practice of psychological service of the higher school; area - psychology.
