Gerasymchuk T. Formation of professional foreign-language competence of future engineers of automobile and highway branch with the use of information technologies

The purpose of modern training of a foreign language in the higher school should be considered as forming of professional foreign-language competence of future engineers, their capability to effective communication with the help of verbal and nonverbal means of a foreign language, creative development in communicative interactions with foreign colleagues. The highly qualified specialist of higher education institutions should be capable to identify and use the linguistic and speech competencies, gained throughout training at the higher school, as components of professional competence depending on a professional orientation. In the given thesis the model of formation of professional foreign-language competence of future engineers of automobile and highway branch with the use of information technologies is scientifically developed, proved and experimentally checked. The current state of informatization of education as a basis for training a competent expert is analyzed and systematized; the essence of definitions "competence", "competency", "foreign-language (linguistic) competence", "professional competence of the future engineer" is specified, the content of the concept "professional foreign-language competence" in terms of educational paradigm informatization is specified.
