Essay

The thesis investigates the fragmentation of production systems of transnational corporations. It analyzes the international production as an economic category, modern theories of TNCs, particularly the theory of fragmentation of international production, methodological issues of global value chains of multinational firms. The dissertation reveals the scale and geographical configuration of the global segmented production systems, studies institutional mechanism of TNC's value chains, examines control and coordination in fragmented production as well as the determinants of international production locational choises. Іnstitutional structure of fragmented international production systems is analysed on the framework of three criteria: ownership (equity control) of the participants, value added production function, and the business strategy of the GVC members. The thesis analyzes the macroeconomic effects of TNCs production networks in the countries participating in global value chains, the potential of Ukraine to participate in value creation networks of TNCs.
