Essay

Our society has been interested in studying of civilization and cultural phenomena of the Middle East from ancient times. Hermeneutics and philology studies of the Noble Qur'an and Sunnah, formulating of book Islam tendencies, historical and conceptual reconstruction of the first Muslims' society, cognitive and cultural discourses, terminology research of the Arabic lexicology, fundamental research of teaching methods concerned with east languages, analysis of the Arabic grammar structure, making of Arabic-Ukrainian dictionaries and highly specialized references, dialectical analysis of Arab literature, doctrinal and philosophical thought of Islamic world ? all these aspects are a partial list of a powerful directions of Ukrainian oriental studies, which reflect for world society achievements of ancient and modern Arab civilization. In the spectrum of the Ukrainian oriental studies, which were founded by A. U. Krimsky, O. J. Pricak, J. E. Polotnjuk, U. M. Kochubey, etc., the research of Arab library and information science and book science, namely acquisition, has actual research perspectives. A modern reader is interested in Arabic world, its informational and social communication potentials. For this reason libraries have got new requests for librarians, researchers and consultants. The events of "Arabic spring" have changed conscious and understanding of the Middle East by many Europeans and representatives of other continents and cultures. Deeping into exceptionally library specific and analyzing some numbers of rather complex reader's requests we begin understanding that Ukrainian society would like to know more about the Middle East and Arab countries. And it is an appropriate, social and cultural answer to restructuring of Islamic world. The importance of the dissertation is a complex summarizing. A summary knowledge about the Arab libraries acquisitions has been identified, classified and systematically comprehended. This work offers the vision of the Arab library and information science from the point of view of its historical evolution (from selection and acquisition theories in period of the 20th century to integrated library systems (ILS) of 21st century). It helps us to understand an essential part of cultural and social processes. The dissertation reflects a complex approach to the acquisition. We draw special attention to an important necessity for combinating an evolution historical vision with book science, library and information science and bibliography science methods. It means that this study unites historical information, theoretical review of acquisition sources, selection systems, legal documents and automation programs. Such direction is a perspective decision, which guarantees the truth of obtained statements, their sufficient theoretical and practical validity. This subject is being reviewed from historical, library and information science, science of culture, legal and terminological viewpoints. An actual decision represents the attempt to combine theoretical and practical experience of European, American and Arab library and information science researchers for studying the Arab libraries acquisition. We take into account such questions: acquisition sources, legal deposit and national book heritage preservation, terminology problems, historiography component, acquisition of Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, review of Arab libraries in international projects structure, specific character of documentation (document type "sі?аsаt), acquisition modules in ILS of Arab libraries. Obtained results closely relate to such disciplines as selection of information, forecasting of readers' interests, international library legislation.
