Essay

This thesis propounds a new methodological framework of training university students majoring in technical fields. The analysis of relevant pedagogical sources testifies that at present the problem of developing professionally oriented other language communication of technical-trainees escapes proper theoretical and practical attention. Respectively, University curricula do not have practical courses introducing students to various techniques of implementing interdisciplinary technologies in the educational process. Such techniques, combined with the conventional ones, may become beneficiary for training future technicians and agrarians for the effective professional interaction in the modern globalized world. This paper addresses the aforementioned problems from the perspective of linguistics, cognitive science and pedagogy. The central issue of the investigation is professionally oriented alien language communication of technical-trainees. It is defined as a purposeful bilateral process of interrelated and interconditionate activity aimed at acquiring specialized knowledge, habits and skills which are conducive for this process via a target language. The research presents a detailed description of a coherent and comprehensive methodology aimed at developing professionally oriented other language communication of university students majoring in technical fields. The author exhibits how this methodology can be applied in the learning and teaching process, propounding the devised functional model, methods, techniques and organizational forms of mastering material under study, and a relevant system of communicative and cognitive professionally-oriented exercises. The thesis represents the positive results of a pedagogical experiment designed to expose how the suggested methodology and pedagogical conditions can facilitate developing the high level of professionally oriented alien language communication of future agrarian engineers. There was the provement of the efficient professionally oriented other language communication development within the proposed technology due to the introduction of such pedagogical conditions as: involving principles to realize professionally oriented other language communication formation; basing upon standard and convectional documents to direct higher education on the need to develop the skilled usage of foreign language as the other system language system, as the tool to solve professional tasks working in different regimes, technical programmes and sign systems; basing upon educational and communicative experience, linguistic and spelling experience to be obtained before enrolling into agrarian higher educational establishment; creating technology to be maximally focused on special mental features of the future agrarian mechanical engineers; usage of such formating means and tools which would provide the agrarian technical specialist's needs in other language communication to solve his professional industrial communicative tasks as well as the task of own development. The research involved the primary stage of technical education within three agrarian higher educational establishments. The developed methodology is compatible with teaching students of other fields, which outlines a perspective for further research.
