Essay

The thesis is devoted to the development of psycho-pedagogical foundations of foreign language competence of future seafarers. The theoretical analysis of the above problems from the perspective of educational psychology is described in the thesis; the author determined the content and structure, characteristics and indicators of formation of foreign language competence of seafarers; researched foreign experience in training of seafarers for international fleet. The author gives the definition of foreign language competence of a seafarer as an integrative property of the individual to realize ability to conduct rational communication in the performance of functional responsibilities and use successfully interpersonal communication strategies to ensure the security of international navigation and own safety by means of the language of international communication. Psycholinguistic factor in forming the Content aspect of procedure component is a psycholinguistic perception of speech. At the psycholinguistic level quality characteristics of oral transmission of information, transmission of information associated with emotional and intellectual spheres require improvement and correction, development of attention and focus on speech perception and concentration while hearing, the voice control skills and general and foreign language anxiety need further correction too.
