The thesis researches the phenomenon of Neoclassicism in music as a manifestation of the classical tradition in the modern West-European art. The principle of classicality is revealed as an aesthetic norm of the antique art and the main instrument of embodiment of the classical tradition in the further development of Western culture. The thesis traces how in the musical art of the XIXth century the neo-classical situation was evolved.
